...at my parents’ house. This is where I get to sleep when we visit. I make it a point to read at least one book each time.

Also, alcohol is big here So, I will likely be consistently buzzed for the next ten days. Fair warning

Drinking and posting... what could possibly go wrong?

Nice. I love libraries, whether public or at home.

At my old place I had several bookcases in my living room, packed full. Unfortunately, several of my bookcases were damaged in the move and I haven’t got around to replacing them and unpacking the books. At this point I’m looking to buy a house, so I think I’ll leave everything packed for now.

I still have a copy of This Old House from about 20 years ago that featured a library that someone added to their house. It’s 20x40, two stories. The upper portion is just around the perimeter, leaving the center section two stories high. The cool thing is that the upper portion is actually suspended from the ceiling, not supported from below, leaving no posts down below. And everything is done in cherry and looks quite nice; I’m kind of partial to teak, but cherry’s not a bad choice. If I ever build my own home I want a room just like that one.

The central branch of the library here in downtown St Louis recently underwent a multi-year restoration and remodeling. It’s a stunning place, and I love to spend hours there whenever I have some spare time. But there are too many noisy people there, staff included, that don’t seem to understand that you’re supposed to be quiet whilst in a library.

The second level in Frank Lloyd Wright’s studio in Oak Park is partially suspended by chains from the ceiling, maybe it was inspired by that?

That’s wonderful! I love getting lost in stacks. Books are the one thing I never mind spending on.

Incredible. Those rooms aren’t the only things getting wood now.

I hope to someday have a house with a library like that, but with one of those rolling ladders.
